How to Use Echo Text, Easy After Effects Tutorial

Echo Text Animation

Here's exactly how you can create a motion trail, also known as an echo, inside After Effects 2021. In this quick tutorial, I'll show you how quick and easy it is to add this typographical effect to your text.

The Process

To begin with, add your text into your composition, then apply your animation. In this case, I used the position properties to crate an infinity sign. After that, go to your effects and presets tab and search for echo. Simply apply this to your text layer and then start by increasing the number of echos.

At this point, you’ll notice that your text isn’t visible. All you need to do head over to the effects controls and change the echo operator from ‘add’ to ‘composite in front’. Then change the colour fill to match your background and add a stroke. By this point, you should be good to go.

There are so many ways you can use this effect, so play around with it. Hope this was helpful. If you have any questions, drop me a message in the comments section on YouTube.
